Map

The map screen renders an interactive world map of all your flight routes and airports, powered by MapLibre GL.

Display#

  • Routes are drawn as great-circle arcs (geodesic paths) connecting departure and arrival airports, accurately reflecting the curvature of the Earth rather than straight lines on the projection.
  • Airports are shown as dots at their geographic coordinates.

Route Styling#

  • Color coding by session type:
ColorSession Type
--------------------
OrangeFLIGHT
BlueSIMULATOR / GENERAL
  • Line width scales with flight frequency – routes you fly more often appear thicker.
  • Opacity also increases with frequency, making your most-flown routes stand out while less-traveled routes remain subtle.

Airport Dot Sizing#

Airport dots are sized proportionally to visit count – hubs and frequently visited airports appear as larger dots, while airports visited only once or twice remain small.

Labels#

Airport labels adapt to the current zoom level – labels appear and grow larger as you zoom in, and fade out at wide zoom levels to avoid clutter.

Stats Overlay#

A stats overlay in the corner of the map shows:

  • Total routes flown
  • Airports visited
  • Total flights
  • Countries visited – the number of unique countries, determined from ICAO airport prefixes

Interaction#

  • Zoom in and out to explore regions or see the full global picture.
  • Pan to move across the map.
  • Rotate the map freely for different perspectives.

Theming#

The map adapts to your app theme. Both dark and light map styles are supported and switch automatically based on your current setting.
