Crew Rest

Calculate minimum crew rest requirements based on your duty schedule.

How to Use#

  1. Enter your report time (the time you start duty).
  2. Enter your end of duty time.
  3. The calculator computes:
    • Duty period duration
    • Minimum rest required before the next duty
    • Earliest next report time

Regulations#

The rest calculator follows standard EASA FTL regulations (ORO.FTL). Minimum rest is based on:

  • Previous duty period length
  • Whether the duty crossed multiple time zones
  • Whether the duty included night operations

KSS Fatigue Info PRO#

For PRO users, each flight segment in the crew rest timeline displays additional fatigue information:

  • Falling asleep probability – estimated likelihood of falling asleep during that segment
  • Fatigue Status at landing – predicted KSS score and risk description at the time of landing

Input Caching#

All input fields are persisted for 24 hours and automatically restored when you reopen the calculator. This lets you return to a previous calculation without re-entering data.

Precision Toggle#

Switch between 1-minute and 5-minute granularity for all time inputs. Use 1-minute precision for exact scheduling or 5-minute steps for quicker entry.

Home Base & Body Clock#

  • Home base UTC offset – automatically loaded from the airport database based on the home base configured in Settings
  • Body clock calculation – displays your estimated body clock time based on your home base timezone, helping you assess circadian impact during layovers or time zone transitions

Rest Patterns#

Eight rest pattern types are available to model different in-flight rest schemes:

PatternDescription
RRTwo equal rest periods
RRRThree equal rest periods
RRRRFour equal rest periods
SLSShort - Long - Short
SSLLShort - Short - Long - Long
LLSSLong - Long - Short - Short
LSSLLong - Short - Short - Long
SLLSShort - Long - Long - Short

S/L Segment Adjustment#

For mixed patterns (SLS, SSLL, etc.), a slider lets you adjust the ratio between Short and Long segments to match the actual rest allocation on board.

Pause Duration#

Configure the pause between rest segments: 0, 5, 10, or 15 minutes. This accounts for handover time between crew members during in-flight rest.
